Vibrations from the front drive shafts on Tesla Model S and X

Tech news

The front drive axles on the Model S and X can cause excessive vibration when the undercarriage is set to a higher ground clearance. The issue causes noise, vibration, and harshness, but does not affect steering, braking, or acceleration.

If the problem is detected, according to TESLA Service Bulletin SB-21-39-001 (link) from April 27, 2026, both front drive axles must be replaced with updated components, and if necessary, the engine mount and axle seal at the front drive unit also need to be replaced.
